The Way of the Future was founded by Anthony Levandowski just four years ago, it became the world’s first Church of Artificial Intelligence.
It was created on the principle of “the realization, acceptance, and worship of a Godhead based on Artificial Intelligence (AI) developed through computer hardware and software.”
Church of Artificial Intelligence closed earlier this year in February after Levandowski received a surprise pardon from Donald Trump after pleading guilty to stealing Google’s self-driving trade secrets.
So even though the Church of Artificial Intelligence is physically no more, those sentiments still draw believers who revere AI as the “ultimate being”. The church still hosts a modest Facebook page.
Adherents of the AI faith believe that humans will be reborn into immortal silicon bodies with digital conscience.
The fundamental problem of an artificial intelligence superior to a human is that this new intelligence may not share the same values or needs we have as a society. They may see our needs as irrelevant at best, or at worst, a source of competition.
