Pew Research: 40 per cent believe we are living in End Times

Two days ago the Pew Centre for Research released American opinions on living in End Times. The questions analyzed were from a survey of 10,156 U.S. adults that was conducted April 11-17, 2022. It was part of a part of a much larger Trends panel study on religion and the environment.

Living in End Times Survey Results

In the United States, 39% of American adults say they believe “we are living in End Times.” Of those, the majority were in the historically Black (76%) and evangelical (63%) communities

From the Non Christian community about three-in-ten people (29%) and those with no religious affiliation (23%) also say we are living in End Times.

Of the Christian Communities that DON’T believe we are living in End Times, 70% of Catholics and 65% of mainline Protestants.

55% of all Americans believe in the Return of Jesus

The Pew Research survey also explored America’ view concerning the view that Jesus will eventually return to Earth, in what is often called the “second coming.”

When asked if Jesus “will return to Earth someday,” more than half of all U.S. adults (55%), including three-quarters of Christians, say this will happen. Evangelicals were highest (92%), protestant (82%) and historically Black (86%) traditions were more likely than Catholics (60%), to say there will eventually be a second coming of Jesus.

Only 16% of all interviewed said they didn’t believe in Jesus.

When ask whether Jesus would return in their lifetime: 14% of Christians believed it would be in their life-time; 37% were unsure and 25% definitely not.

The highest named religious bodies in the “definitely not in their lifetime” were the catholics at 31%.

EDITOR: The last of the survey questions regarding the return of Jesus “during their lifetime” may have been compromised due the Pew Research’s lack of understanding of the Rapture. Many Christians believe that they will be raptured before the commencement of the Tribulation period. Jesus will return to the clouds and the rapture takes place. The rapture takes place before the commencement of the Tribulation but during End Times. It is after the tribulation period of seven years that Jesus returns in the Second Coming to set foot on earth. They literally won’t be here. The way it was put in the survey could have made it difficult to answer for those that believe in the rapture.
